The saying goes:
“The best part about building a custom home is getting to choose everything! The worst part about building a custom home is having to choose everything.”
It can be a daunting task to mentally organize your home’s future aesthetic, especially if you’ve never been down that road before. The good news is Tyner Construction consists of a team of industry professionals with various expertise working in concert to ensure not only client satisfaction, but also structural longevity that will stand the test of time. We have seen it all! Planning ahead is the key to achieving remarkable results, and we are happy to share some of our insights from over the years. Here are five elements to consider incorporating into the construction of your dream home.
1. Wall of Windows
Western North Carolina abounds with some of the most undeniably majestic mountain and long-range views in the U.S. These views are heavily sought after by residents in the area when shopping for homesite lots. In order to capture that magical view, consider a wall of windows to maximize your investment and feel truly immersed in the landscape.
2. Paneled Appliances
Luxury kitchens are planned, revised, finalized, revised again – they are made. Finish material selection and quality of craftsmanship play a significant role in the success of these spaces. One element that truly integrates high-end design is paneled appliances. Using custom cabinet fronts to clad your refrigerator, dishwasher, ice maker, and wine fridge will elevate the room and create a seamless aesthetic.
3. Linear Tileable Shower Drains
This may seem like a small detail, but those areas are where the minutia impact truly shines. This drain is tiled to match the shower floor and thus presents a sleek and unassuming presence. The stacked horizontal wall tile pattern mimics the linear shape of the drain and allows the eye to draw across the surface with ease. The cover is also removeable for easy cleanability.
4. Wood Floor Recessed Outlets
Talk about sleek and clean! These recessed floor outlets hide away while still allowing cords to pass through the cover to maintain function. This is a detail we use on every job, and it always hits the mark. We work with highly skilled electricians, carpenters, and finishers to bring these to life and conceal the utility aspect of the device.
5. Decorative HVAC Grills
If you shudder when you hear the term “louvered vent cover” like I do, then I recommend using decorative grills instead. They come in a variety of shapes, styles, and finishes, and add that seasoning of luxury to a mundane (but necessary) home element. This particular linear style accents the modern characteristics of the home and is prefinished in a dark bronze to supplement surrounding elements.
Choosing everything may be a tall order when building a home, but it can also be the best part of the whole experience! Having that stellar team of professionals walk alongside you is crucial to a successful dream home move in day. Throughout this year, we will share more of our favorite elements here so that you can begin making your wish list. Stay tuned!
